About the Library

Policies

Our intent is to make policies based on fairness for the greatest number of library users and staff.

We try to be inclusive in our policy making rather than restrictive; rather than disallowing actions and activities, we try to allow as much latitude as possible without intrusion on the rights of others. Policies are for the purpose of making clear obligations and privileges so there will be no misunderstanding. They are not meant to restrict access and use unnecessarily.

We welcome input from all users of Chambers Library. If you have a comment about any policy, please send us a comment to help us improve our services.

Challenges to Library Materials

The librarians and staff at Chambers Library strongly support freedom of speech in accordance with the Constitution of the United States and following the guidelines of the American Library Association.

The materials in Chambers Library have been selected using well-established criteria; however, some materials may be offensive to some people. Any challenges to the inclusion of any materials will be judged according to our primary responsibility to intellectual freedom.
