Google site limiter

Are you trying to find reliable statistics on the web?

Use a site limiter to ensure a more trustworthy result. You can limit to a type of domain, or even to a specific website. For example, if I wanted to search population statistics I could do either:

population statistics site:.gov

population statistics site:census.gov

You can use the site limiter for any domain or website: .edu and .org are other possible options. Do be wary of anything from .com or .net, though. These last two are often consumer-driven and full of biases.

When needing supporting demographic information, it may not be readily available in the studies you have found. Government agencies are the most consistent and reliable data collectors. The databases and weblinks below are our recommendation for finding quick access statistics.

Education statistics

The Condition of Education
Compiles statistics from educational indicators such as demographic and ethnic distributions, rankings on standardized tests, class size, per student expenditures, and enrollment trends.
Department of Education
The Department of Education establishes policy for, administers, and coordinates most Federal assistance to education. Its mission is to ensure equal access to education and to promote educational excellence throughout the Nation.
Digest of Education Statistics
The primary purpose of the Digest of Education Statistics is to provide a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten through graduate school. The Digest includes a selection of data from many sources, both government and private, and draws especially on the results of surveys and activities carried out by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Statistical Abstracts of the United States
Published since 1878, this is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations.
