Plagiarism

Plagiarism - Using other people's ideas or words without giving them credit.

  • Plagiarism is cheating and is a form of academic dishonesty
  • You need to give fair credit to others
  • It shows the reader that you consulted "experts" in the field
  • It gives your writing more credibility
  • Done intentionally or inadvertently it is considered a grave ethical offense and can have serious consequences for a person's education, career, reputation and credibility

How to Avoid Plagiarism

Start your research early

Keep track of ALL your sources

Add citations as you write, not last-minute
