Appeal it!

There is a good chance your first plagiarism was accidental. Make sure you file an appeal! It is worth it to try.

Contact the Office of Student Accountability and Conduct if you have questions (405-974-5380).

Plagiarism Consequences

What happens if you DO plagiarize?

  • You will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
  • They will decide if you plagiarized by accident or if it was intentional.
  • Your instructor gets to decide what happens to your assignment grade and whether you get any second chances.
  • The Office of Student Conduct will keep a record of your plagiarism. If you plagiarize multiple times, you could lose your student status.
  • You can appeal a charge of plagiarism. See the Code of Student Conduct for instructions.

You can find examples of what happens to professionals when they plagiarize on the general plagiarism guide.
