Which style should you use?

The style you use for citations is based on your area of study and your professor's requirements. You will most likely use one of these three styles:

1. APA STYLE - APA is used in most sciences including biology, physics, engineering, medicine (including nursing), and education.

2. MLA STYLE - MLA is used in the humanities including English, philosophy, and modern languages.

3. CHICAGO STYLE - sometimes also referred to as Turabian, CHICAGO is used in history and the arts (including music).

Other styles you might be asked to use include ASA, AP, or the Bluebook. If you need help with these styles, contact a librarian.
