Since 1934, Chambers Library has been part of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), a nationwide federal depository system established by the United States Congress, under the direction of the Government Printing Office (GPO). The library receives approximately 60% of the material made available through the Federal Depository System. In 1978, the library also became an official depository for all Oklahoma depository documents.
Established by Congress to ensure the American public has access to its Government's information, the FDLP provides the public with Government information, when and where it is needed, in order to ensure an informed citizenry and an improved quality of life. The mission of the FDLP is to provide for no-fee ready and permanent public access to Federal Government information, now and for future generations.
What kind of things can you find at the FDLP? The Government Printing Office (The GPO) is responsible for printing and distributing government documents and overseeing the FDLP, including the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP).
