Summer 2025

The Reading Room for Special Collections & University Archives received several updates to facilitate ease of use for our students and researchers:

  • Expanded book collections by adding 3 stacks ranges
  • Shifted collections to create space for current and new items
  • Moved graduate theses to a more visible location
  • Rearranged computer stations for better patron space
  • Relocated microfilm cabinets near the reader station
  • Opened sight-lines around the Help Desk
  • Refreshed the room with updated decor and new paint
  • Refreshed exhibits on UCO and Edmond history
  • Designed new posters showcasing our collections
  • Added convenient cubbies for researchers’ belongings
  • Swapped the door buzzer for a welcoming bell

The old sign on the front entrance said "Archives & Special Collections"

The new door sign reads "Special Collections" on the left side and "University Archives" on the right.

Previous arrangement of the front desk.

New arrangement of the front desk, with tables and chairs surrounding it.
More book stacks can be seen along the wall behind the desk.

The area on the north side of the entrance used to have large display cases and old couches.

The north side entrance area now has smaller displays to make room for two computer stations with microform readers.
The microfilm cabinets were also moved to this area.

Large display cases were moved along the south wall, and welcoming signage is now closer to the entrance.
