Title

Volver (Return)

Review

The constant wind across the plain makes everyone a bit odd in a little village in Spain. Anything can happen there, even a very solid ghost who seems intent on watching out for her family who have moved to the big city. They're living typically fragmented and harried lives as they meet modern demands, and they're forgetting to value each other.

The twists of this tale are ridiculous, silly, completely endearing and very funny. The subtitles are not distracting, the way they can be if there is a lot of action that the viewer misses while reading. It's a small, family story that may not be good for children (there's a fairly graphic murder and hints of sexual abuse), but it is a wonderful escape for a couple of hours.
