Addresses questions about climate change impacts; the adaptation actions needed to increase resilience of forests and ranges to the impacts; the potential of forests to mitigate atmospheric greenhouse gas (GHG) concentration changes by storing additional carbon in living vegetation and forest products; and reducing fossil carbon use by increasing production of biofuels and substituting forest products for more GHG-intensive materials.
Information gathered, managed and analyzed under the coordination of WMO by the NMHSs, in collaboration with other regional and international organizations and programs, in order to aid decision-makers and users in planning and adapting their activities and projects to expected conditions.
Provides access to the 2005 Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI) report and underlying data, and the map gallery.
