My Friend Dahmer

by Derf Backderf

With the current trend in true crime (shout out to the podcast Casefile!), My Friend Dahmer couldn’t be a more timely read. My Friend Dahmer is an autobiography of the author’s teenage years, in which he “befriended” Jeffrey Dahmer. The book paints a portrait of Dahmer as someone who clearly needed help, but was relentlessly ignored by his family and teachers.

The book gives interesting insight into the mind of Jeffrey Dahmer, and encourages discussion on the need for better mental health initiatives. If you are a fan of true crime, autobiographical stories, or how the mind of a serial killer is developed, this is the book for you.
