Title

Ghosts of the McBride House: a True Haunting

Cecilia Back

Review

The author and her family have lived for 25 years in a late-19th century house near Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. In a straightforward, matter-of-fact manner, she describes very specific, vivid, and repeated experiences with four ghosts throughout those years.

I have questions.

If the ghosts had parties that began promptly at 2am in the parlor, why not attempt to have their experiences confirmed by impartial witnesses or an ordinary camcorder? If home restoration crews kept quitting because of encounters, why weren’t they named and affidavits obtained? Eight other families have lived in the house and have no claims of haunting. The author says, “Well, I don’t know how those people could live in the McBride house and not believe that ghosts exist” (page 123). Why aren’t these testimonials included? Why don’t any of the witnesses have last names, including the psychic who confirmed the presence of all the ghosts? ~ Abbey Warner
