Interlibrary Loan

When you need a book or article that Chambers Library doesn't own, Interlibrary Loan can usually borrow it for you from another library. There is no cost to you.

Most of the time, you will use Interlibrary Loan while searching the library's databases. If a journal article is unavailable either online or in print on 4th floor, the Interlibrary Loan link sends you to the ILL login page. First time users must fill out a free registration that will store user information for future requests. When you login on the ILL system (called ILLiad), your borrower information and the article citation information is filled out automatically.

You may also go directly to the ILL form to borrow books or other materials. When you login, your borrower information is filled in automatically but you must provide information about the item. Please be thorough and accurate - the more details you provide about an item, the easier it is for ILL to locate and borrow it for you.

Allow about a week for material to arrive on campus, depending on the location of the material and the promptness of the lending library. Some electronic delivery of articles is faster than one week, and you will receive an email with instructions on how to download an electronic article.

You will be notified by phone, campus mail or email when materials arrive for pickup at the Circulation Desk.

You may keep printouts of articles, but books must be returned promptly on the due date. All patrons will be charged $1.00 per day with a maximum of $30.00 fine for each overdue ILL book. Some ILL lenders allow renewals of books. You may renew them online through the ILLiad system.
