Mamma Mia!

My, how they did twist the storyline to fit around those Abba songs! Many of the lyrics fit amazingly well, and the film locale on a gorgeous Greek island makes it a fun romp without a critical thought anywhere on the horizon. Forget the occasional jarring reminder that the summer of love at the center of the story was 40 years ago, not 20. After all, this musical has been in production for almost that long. Ignore the fact that Meryl Streep was a dancing queen at 17 in 1966 and in the movie she has a 20-year old daughter. Please try to ignore Pierce Brosnan's caterwauling "SOS."

Just enjoy, already. You'll find yourself singing it in your head during a meeting or a class. ~ Abbey Warner
