Greetings!

Welcome to October! As always, it seems like Fall Break shows up faster than we're ready for. No matter the season though, the library is ready to support research projects - your own or your students'.

New Resources

We've recently added a few new resources to our A-Z list!

  • 404 Media
    • 404 Media is a journalist-founded digital media company. Content includes investigative reports, longform features, blogs, and scoops about topics including hacking, cybersecurity, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, consumer rights, surveillance, privacy, and the democratization of the internet.
    • For subscriber access, create a free account using your UCO email address. After confirming your address, your free account will be automatically upgraded to the premium subscription content.
  • Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos, 1933-1945
    • Open access resource on Nazi persecutory sites, developed in partnership with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. As of May 2025, volumes I-IV are fully available. Additional volumes to be completed on an ongoing basis.
  • J. Walter Thompson Advertising America
    • Covers the history, operation, and policies of one advertising firm, including aspects of twentieth-century cultural, social, business, marketing, and economic history. Documents cover 1887 to 2014, with the bulk of the material from 1900 to 2000.

Read 'Chos Social Media

Read 'Chos is a new social media series that will highlight a book or media recommendation from a UCO student, faculty, staff, or administration member on the library’s social media channels (FB/Meta & Instagram). It will consist of a text summary (with your photo) or a video/reel that shares a piece of media (book, video, research piece, score, etc.) that transformed you personally or professionally. If you would like to share your experience on social media, please contact Jeff Musslewhite for more information.

Materials Budget Reminder

Don't forget to submit your purchase requests to your library liaison by Monday, November 3rd! Half of your departmental budget needs to be encumbered by that date.

Taco Pockets

My mother-in-law has been sending me recipes lately to try and shake up our routine a little. We recently tried out Cheesy Taco Pockets with great success. They're fast and easy for a weeknight dinner. Wrap taco meat, cream cheese, salsa, and cheese in a tortilla. Then baste with butter and bake for 15 minutes. Although these are made with ground beef, you could try other ground proteins as well. We served them with some canned seasoned black beans to round out the meal.
