Landscapes by Richard Goetz

Five large landscape oil paintings by Richard V. Goetz adorn the walls of Archives & Special Collections, on the second floor of the library.

Put together, these paintings form a panoramic view of the Drummond Ranch in Madill, Oklahoma. Commissioned by A.A. (Jack) Drummond (See details of the Drummond Papers) in 1953, these landscapes are rare, since Goetz specialized in highly refined still life compositions. Richard Goetz (1918-1991) worked in Oklahoma as a professional artist and teacher for over 50 years, winning many awards. His work is included in public collections including the Oklahoma Art Center.

Goetz's work is examined in this video, originally aired by PBS: Paint What You See, Part 1 | Paint What You See, Part 2.
