The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating
Elisabeth Tova Bailey
Oh, this is beautiful. Simply, elegantly beautiful; both the writing--essay and natural history and memoir all wrapped in a prose poem--and the little pencil illustrations scattered throughout. And the rough-cut paper. I love books with uneven pages.
"But what's it about?" you want to know. Nature, of course, as can be surmised from the snail in the title. But also: illness, perspective, companionship, and home.
