Supporting our Troops

Veterans Day is a day set aside to honor all military veterans every November 11. Originally called Armistice Day in honor of the end of World War I, it was first proclaimed in 1919 and designated a national holiday in 1938. It became Veterans Day, officially, in 1954. Veterans Day is somewhat unique among federal holidays in that it is celebrated on a specific date, November 11, rather than always on a Monday.
